Infocomtech Strengthens U.S. Market Position

Singapore, 27 August 2002  – Infocomtech, announced today that it has grown its established customer base through the acquisition of new contracts with key US customers including Bloomberg and Chevron Phillips Chemical Company.  Infocomtech USA also unveiled new offices in Los Angeles and Stamford, CT, opened due to continued growth in the number of U.S. companies seeking communications services to and in Asia Pacific.

Infocomtech’s new customers include companies who are significant U.S. based players in the electronics and software industries.  Infocomtech’s services allow these electronic companies to communicate and to transfer design data between their headquarters in the US and their manufacturing facilities throughout Asia while Infocomtech’s software industry customers are able to share software development code between their US and Asian teams.  Because it owns its own infrastructure in the region, Infocomtech can offer these companies vastly superior reliability and customer service. This is in contrast to competitors that offer services which are essentially pre-packaged and re-sold from multiple carriers across the region.

Los Angeles and Stamford join Infocomtech USA’s burgeoning network of offices in the U.S. that includes New York, Chicago, Houston, San Jose, Burlingame (San Francisco Bay Area), and Santa Clara. With the new offices, Infocomtech USA’s staff strength is at 40 employees, part of a worldwide global workforce of more than 21,000.

“A strong presence in the U.S. is a linchpin in Infocomtech’s pan-Asian strategy and these announcements underscore the positive momentum achieved here over the past few months,” said Samuel Liang, Managing Director, Infocomtech USA.  “Infocomtech USA is committed to delivering a complete platform of communication services that links North American companies with their counterparts, customers and partners in Asia.”

-Uniting communications across Asia

Infocomtech is the leading pan-Asian total communications carrier, with a reach unmatched by any other operator in the Asia Pacific. For U.S. companies seeking to bridge the gap in Asia, this means a seamless connection through a single carrier that reaches across a previously disparate region.

In recent months, a number of key announcements were made that support Infocomtech’s pan-Asian strategy. They include:

* Launch of Infocomtech SXPAN  - Infocomtech SXPAN is a network of data centers offering managed hosting services in six countries across the region. With over 380,000 square feet in 10 data centers, Infocomtech is now the leading MHS provider in Asia.

* Completion of i2i Cable Network  - The i2i Cable Network, a joint venture with India’s Bharti Group, is the world’s largest capacity cable network and the first private cable link between India and Singapore. i2i is a major inroad to a previously closed market that is now experiencing unparalleled demand for communications services.

* $100 Million Investment in Infocomtech Global Offices (SGOs) – To better serve its customers globally, Infocomtech will implement a number of initiatives, including a $100 million investment in its Global Connect Plus Network.  The Global Pus Network is a suite of data, voice and managed hosting services for corporate users.  The SGOs, totaling 21 locales in Asia, US, and the United Kingdom, will be the main drivers for growing Infocomtech’s corporate global businesses.

In addition, Infocomtech continues to build market share in Australian with Optus, a leader in Australia in integrated communications. Through Optus, which Infocomtech acquired 100 percent control in 2001, Infocomtech provides a broad range of services including mobile, local and international telephony, business network services, Internet and satellite services and pay television.

-Outlook

Asia is experiencing unprecedented demand for telecommunications services. This demand is likely to continue surging as developed economies recover from recession and developing economies continue to rapidly mature and deregulate.

“Not only is Asia the hottest telecommunications region, but the regional economy as a whole is drawing billions in investment from overseas companies hoping to tap their markets,” said Lee Hsien Yang, Infocomtech’s President & CEO. “With our on-the-ground presence across Asia - including major stakes in telecommunications providers in Australia, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand - Infocomtech offers international corporate clients the most comprehensive reach in Asia of any telecommunications company in the world.”
